When Is The Right Time To Scale And How Do You Do This?
When I speak with successful coaches and changemakers all around the world, there is one thing I hear time and time again.
That right before they went on to use their GIFT to impact hundreds or thousands of lives, they were stuck spending the majority of their time working in their business, not on their business.
They felt lost or unsure on how to take it to the next level, and that achieving 6 or 7 figures was simply impossible.
They were always unsure on how to go from a 1-1 business model and still have enough time to elevate their income while ensuring there was space to work on their business development.
So when is the right time to scale?
Knowing not only how to scale a business but when can be a daunting task.
Am I ready?
Is it too soon?
Where do I start?
Before you look at how to scale, you need to first decide if and when you are ready to. This can seem difficult, but it actually answers its own question.
You want to be thinking along the lines of:
Are you so busy that you can’t take on more clients? Then it’s time to scale.
Have you found a consistent level of revenue and clients that you are content with, but want to increase them to the next level? Then It’s time to scale.
Are you unable to focus on what direction your business is going in because you’re dealing with the operational or administrative side of it too much? Then it’s time to scale.
In this blog, I wanted to talk about the 3 most crucial elements to scaling your business while keeping you in your genius zone. This means you can continue to grow an impactful, life-changing business and exponentially raise your income.
THE 3 PHASES OF THE SCALING FORMULA.
There’s nothing worse than trying to take your business and passion to new heights, only to find mixed messages or unclear methods on how this can actually be done.
What I soon came to realize is that each of these steps had a common word running through them all…
Predictable.
We want to be focussing on a predictable business model, a predictable marketing strategy, a predictable promise on who it is we serve, and finally, a predictable system that allows everything to continue to move along in the background, even if you are not there.
So let’s take a closer look at the 3 key steps to take your dreams and revenue to new levels.
Step 1 – The Circle
Think of The Circle as those you surround yourself with and the network that you’ve built.
These people will be your safety net when you are worried, lift you up and boost your confidence when you’re feeling overwhelmed, and push you forward when you build momentum.
So why is The Circle so important to scaling your business?
In order to scale effectively and past yourself, you need to shift your mindset from being the person who delivers transformations in others, to the scout who uses the circle to not only deliver these transformations, but to then scale your impact to reach wider audiences.
David J. Greer, author of wind in your sails once said, “A customer talking about their experience with you is worth ten times that which you write or say about yourself.”
Now we know that word of mouth is arguably the best form of advertising. In fact, according to a report carried out by Boston Consulting Group, Consumers rely on word-of-mouth 2x to 10x more than paid media.
That’s what your circle can do for you.
You need to utilize those around you and begin to transition from asking ‘how’ do you solve a particular problem to ‘who’ can help me solve this problem.
As the old saying goes, “Many Hands Make Light Work”.
Step 2 – The Playbook
Think of this as your business bible. When you become the scout and not the transformation creator, you’ll need processes, systems, and procedures in place.
This can come in many forms, from a marketing team to operational managers, to wider communications and tech support. This part of the formula will be crucial in your journey to 6 and 7 figures.
Now because this growth will have many intricate components and parts, it will be imperative you document everything.
The Playbook must be easily accessible to all of your team, and so simple to read that a stranger could come in, pick it up, and understand how to run your business.
When creating your playbook you need to imagine that you can leave your business for up to 3 months, and know that the team you have in place can execute everything to perfection.
Step 3 – The Platform
This is where you get in front of the right people, at the right time, consistently. When you’re considering this step, start to think about your growth, project, and marketing strategies.
To be sure that you’re covering all these areas, ask yourself these questions:
- Do I have a strategy in place that will help me consistently get in front of new communities to share my expertise?
- Am I working on a wider project that gets my gift out to the masses, like a book or a podcast?
- Am I confident that my online growth strategy is helping my business continue to grow exponentially?
If you aren’t quite there yet when you answer these questions, then try to break each one down into smaller, more achievable sections.
For example, in order to reach wider communities to showcase your GIFT, are you speaking on a diverse mix of stages or platforms?
Are you utilizing your current connections, to collaborate and increase your reach?
Remember, alone, these steps cannot work effectively and will not serve your future impact.
Your business will become disjointed and you won’t achieve consistent results.
But together, the team you have in place, the systems that free up your time, and the platform that you’re going to utilize…
That will give you one almighty, impact-forging superpower.
Yours,
Giovanni Marsico
